Jones Residence Hall was built in 1958. It is named in honor of Lydia I. Jones (1878-1958) who joined the Normal School as an English teacher in 1904, served as the first dean of Women from 1912 to 1922 (apparently under the title Preceptress of Girls for at least part of her tenure), and chaired the English Department from 1919 until her retirement in 1922. All of the other residence halls are named for New York State counties. 1959 - Livingston Residence Hall 1961 - Monroe Residence Hall 1964 - Steuben Residence Hall 1965 - Genesee, Ontario, & Wyoming Residence Halls 1966 - Erie Residence Hall 1967 - Nassau & Suffolk Residence Halls 1970 - Niagara, Wayne, & Onondaga Residence Halls 2001 - Saratoga Terrace townhouses 2004 - Putnam Hall 2009 - Seneca Hall
