Abstract

This presentation will concern the efficacy of biking as an alternative transportation solution around Geneseo. The SUNY Geneseo campus is not very bike friendly, as it lacks bike lanes, bike racks are placed sporadically around campus, and there is little indoor storage for bikes in most dorms. Encouraging the use of bikes or electrical bikes may not only improve the physical health of students, but it may reduce the carbon footprint of Geneseo students in the long-term. I will consider the environmental impact of an electrical bike program, necessary renovations to create a bike-friendly campus, and the feasibility of transforming Geneseo into a bike-friendly or electrical-bike friendly, environmentally sustainable campus.
