Abstract

"Empowering Voices through DIY Zine-Making" workshop, where participants will harness the power of zine-making to explore themes of community, activism, and global citizenship. Zines, small-scale publications with big messages, serve as a conduit for diverse voices to be heard and shared, making them a perfect medium for exploring the interconnectedness of local and global issues.

This workshop delves into the intersection of art, activism, and citizenship, providing a space for participants to express their perspectives on pressing social and environmental issues. Led by experienced zine-makers, attendees will delve into the rich history of zines as tools for social change, discovering how grassroots movements have utilized this accessible medium to amplify marginalized voices and catalyze collective action.

Through a series of interactive exercises and discussions, participants will learn how to translate their personal experiences and passions into impactful zine content. From storytelling and illustration to collage and multimedia techniques, attendees will experiment with a range of creative approaches to craft their own zines that reflect their visions of local and global citizenship.

By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will emerge with newfound skills in self-publishing and a tangible representation of their voices in the form of their own unique zines. Join us as we celebrate the power of storytelling, creativity, and advocacy in fostering a more inclusive and engaged global community.
