Abstract

This research explains the need foster children have for better mental health care due to the amount of foster children with mental illnesses. In my research I will be answering the question: What can the federal government do to help foster children with their mental illness? I have found that 80% of foster children suffer from mental illness, whether that be PTSD, anxiety, depression, DID, or any other mental illness. Foster families are given a plan to follow when they receive their foster child, but many times these children do not get the care they need. In my project I will be finding a better social welfare policy that tackles this issue.
