Abstract
I will be researching current school safety policies that have been implemented following the school shooting in Parkland Florida and the Santa Fe tragedy. I will focus on three states' policies: New York, Florida, and Texas. I chose New York to research what is currently being done in our state in regards to school safety. I chose Florida because of the large impact Parkland had on the United States in making school safety a priority. I chose Texas because, as of this year 2020, they are the state with the largest number of school shootings. After researching these state policies to see what is working and what is not, I will propose a school safety policy of my own. The main focus of the policy will be centered around school security and preventing guns on school campuses.
